Antonietta Collins

Antonietta Toni Gonzalez-Collins is a Mexican-American sportscaster. Her current role is a sportscaster for ESPN who is also an anchor of SportsCenter news and hosting SportsNation. She began her career at ESPN in the year of 2016. The child of the journalist on television Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta Collins was a bilingual since she was nine years old a useful talent that enabled her to get her first job in the production department at Univision in Miami that allowed her to be a part of the production team for national programs such as Nuestra Belleza Latina, Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud and Primer Impacto. Her next assignment was a Sports Reporter at The CBS St. Petersburg Affiliate. In 2009, the news reporter moved from St. Petersburg to Rio Grande Valley Texas where she was employed by KNVO TV 48 Univision as and Fox2 News. In reporting on news stories about drugs and immigration issues from both sides of the Mexico-Texas Border, she served as a news reporter for the Spanish channel KNVO TV 48 at 5 pm, a news reporter on English for 9 pm, after which she became a news anchor until 10pm before returning to the Spanish channel. In addition, she was frequently required to act as a sports or weather anchor. Deportes 23 in Dallas, Univision's Dallas-affiliate station. There she had more duties. She wrote to sports like the NBA, Dallas Cowboys' postseason, NBA ALDS ALCS World Series or Finals FC Dallas. She was the producer of Univision 23 Accion Deportiva Extra as anchor. She served in the same capacity on the magazine program of the network Primer Impacto and for UniMas Network's Contacto Deportivo. Antonietta Collins' parents are originally from Veracruz Mexico. Eventually, they settled in Mexico City and she was born there on November 22 in 1985. Also, she has an older sister. In 1992, the family left Mexico to the US and settled in Miami. They divorced shortly thereafter in 1995. Her mother was remarried to a naval architect named Fabio Fajardo who died from kidney cancer in 2006. In June in 2006 she spent an entire week with her sister at Canton Ohio. The older Collins girl was working there. Antonietta was a senior in high school and had a clear idea of the path she wanted to pursue. When she was deciding whether Mount Union is the right choice for her Antonietta visited the campus. In the end, she fell in love with the school. They also offered her a an academic major. After graduation, she enrolled at the university as a media studies major. Mark Bergmann was her professor as well as the director of WRMU in which she's a part. They formed a strong relationship. The professor encouraged her to believe in herself and was deeply touched by his passion for journalism.
